Lady Gaga is inspired by glam rock musicians such as David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, as well as pop music artists such as Madonna and Michael Jackson. She has also stated fashion is a source of inspiration for her songwriting and performances. She has sold over ten million albums and over thirty-five million singles worldwide.

Lady Gaga has stated that she is "very into fashion" and that it is "everything" to her She has her own creative production team called the Haus of Gaga, which she handles personally. The team creates many of her clothes, stage props, and hairdos.

Her love of fashion came from her mother, who she stated was "always very well kept and beautiful." She said that: "When I'm writing music, I'm thinking about the clothes I want to wear on stage. Personally, I am a HUGE fan of hers. She is the modern day Cyndi Lauper in my book! A singing and walking fashion statement /trend.
